We are documenting our dinner. We like to cook, we like to eat, and we like each other.
Hello! I’m Brianne. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen with my other half, Kevin. We began cooking together during our first semester of graduate school, and we haven’t stopped since. Why, you ask? Well, we fell head over heels in love…not only with each other, but also with cooking. We continued to cook together as a means of maintaining our sanity while obtaining our Masters degrees. Now we’re working toward our PhDs, and we really need our down time together in our little Maine kitchen.
We started Documenting our Dinner to keep track of what we were cooking for ourselves, and we are constantly discovering new things to try. Initially, I did all the writing and Kevin took all the photos, but my obsession with food quickly got out of hand, leading Kevin to hand over the camera. No worries, friends–we’re still crazy about each other. Our approach to cooking is to take what others have done and make it work for us, usually with minimal adaptation for our needs. We’re pretty easy to satisfy if there’s good food involved. As we learn more about how different flavors and textures come together to create delicious dishes, we hope to start creating our own recipes. We’ve come up with a few, but we find so many great recipes that we usually cook from those instead.
We explain our food histories in our first post. We come from very different backgrounds, and that’s one of the biggest reasons why learning to cook together has been such a great experience. We’re excited to share this big passion of ours with you.
